Polly Nor is a London-based multidisciplinary artist, best known for her dark and satirical drawings of women and their demons. Interweaving themes of identity, sexuality and emotional turmoil, Nor’s work often tells stories about the complicated relationships we have with ourselves and the struggle to find self-acceptance in the internet age. Over the years her work has expanded beyond hand-drawn and digital illustration to include sculpture, animation, and large-scale immersive installations. She has now produced three solo exhibitions in London and has had work included in numerous group shows and exhibitions around the world, most recently contributing her Shedding Skins installation piece to the exhibition Amore Veneris at Lisbon’s Palacio Anjos, exhibiting alongside artists like Louise Bourgeois and Paula Rego.

In recent years Nor began expanding her one-off illustrations into longer narrative works, such as 2018’s 39-part series A Spanner In The Works. She has also brought her work to life through several animation projects. In 2016, alongside renowned animator Andy Baker, she created the video for musician Chelou’s Halfway To Nowhere single. The video has been viewed on YouTube more than 33 million times to date, was chosen for a Vimeo Staff Pick and was selected for Adam Buxton’s Bug series at London’s iconic BFI Southbank. She also wrote, co-directed and designed the award-winning animated short film How Have You Been? which has now been viewed over 100k times, shortlisted for the Clio Awards and was selected for a D&AD Graphite Pencil in 2020, given to “stand-out work that rises above the rest.” Through her honest, at times uncomfortable projects, Nor has amassed a large following, sharing her work with millions across social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. She has been profiled on the covers of Juxtapoz and Polyester Zine with her work also featured by the likes of BBC, Dazed, Creative Review, i-D, Refinery29, Wonderland, FADER, The AOI, Time Out, It’s Nice That, Stylist and Wonderland. Additionally, she has been interviewed on The Great Women Artists podcast and the Tate Podcast: Art Of The Body. Outside of her own projects, Nor has also been commissioned by the likes of Gucci, Dr Martens, Bloomsbury, Ace & Tate and Wetransfer and appeared as a panel guest at Apple UK’s Digital Arts talk in partnership with Dazed Magazine.
